Synthesis of New Imide Copolymers based on heterocyclic compound contain Schiff Base and Azo group

A new Schiff base[A1] was synthesized by reaction of 4-aminoazobenzene with 3-aminoacetophenone with an excellent yield, then, the Schiff base used to synthesized a new imide derivative [A2] by melted method with malic anhydride. The unsaturated imide was polymerization as a copolymer with (styrene, acrylonitrile and methacrylic acid) to afforded a new imide copolymer contain. All results conformed the structure and physical properties of molecules as melting point, color and solubility. The compounds [A1, A2] were characterized using Mass and FTIR, 1HNMR, 13CNMR spectroscopy, as well as, the polymers synthesized were characterized using FTIR, 1HNMR, and Thermal analysis.
