Thermodynamics, Kinetic Study and Equilibrium Isotherm Analysis of Rose Bengal Dye Adsorption by Chitosan-Based Schiff Base

The research deals with producing chitosan from shrimp shells using a chemical deacetylation process and aims to improve the purity of the chitosan. The study includes extracting chitin from the shells by removing protein, minerals, and pigments. Chitosan was analyzed using FTIR, XRD, FESEM, and Raman techniques to determine its structural and physical properties. The results showed that the adsorption followed the Freundlich and Timken models, indicating a heterogeneous surface and multilayer adsorption. The study also investigated the effect of adsorbent weight, time, pH, and temperature on the adsorption efficiency, and confirmed that the adsorption was more effective at higher temperatures.
